Author: I want to know the answer to this question as often because we attribute a lot of importance to success, we do not accept a change, howsoever critical and needed, because we do not see success in it. So I want to know, why is success so important in life?
At its basic level it is mere instinctive means of survival and self preservation.
When a lion chases a deer, it means life to either of them.
The lion faces starvation or the deer faces death, due to failure of either.
We as evolved beings try for a win-win situation, were we preserve the species that gives us food, life, and sense of security.
From this basic level, we try to stipulate various parameters for higher benchmarks of successes.
Thus two types of performers spring up. Those who succeed for their own purpose, and those who succeed for others.
Some of those who succeed for their own purpose at time also happen to contribute that success directly or indirectly for others. Like some scientific invention. But wealth gathering success may not contribute much.
Those who succeed for others have a larger Definition of ’self’.’ They may include the country as a part of themselves. That is how unsung heroes succeed.
Success is like a catalyst or a lubricant, that accentuates the attitude towards ‘life-positive-mode’(away from life-negative-mode).
The youth get confused when some of the definitions of successes prescribed by elders around seems narrow, self-centered, personal-gains-oriented etc.

the only thing that’s important in my life is being the best i can and enjoying the life i’m given. success for many people is important, i think, because through it you’re making your place. most people want to feel safe, financially secure, like they did well for their children, and like they’ll be remembered in a positive light. for many, success gives them that feeling. and change scares people, because if it’s good now, then change must mean things would become less good.

To me it’s important so I could give my kids a chance at college and to be able to save money and have a comfortable retirement. So far I’ve sent all my kids to college and they have a very productive life and I’m very comfortable where I’m at in life so by the time I retire I can really sit back and relax and be able to tell my grand children all the important things they need to know to succeed in life.

Success can be measured in many different ways.
For example, in the USA where I live, if people ask the question, "What do you do?" Most people will give the answer of, I am a banker, baker, teacher, accountant, nurse, mechanic or whatever.
In other cultures, if people ask the question, "What do you do?"…the answer might possibly be, I go fishing, hunting, beach combing, swimming, mountain climbing horseback riding and so forth.
The biggest folly that people make is trying to measure success in terms of how OTHERS measure it. Is it a big bank account? A luxury automobile? A large house? Maybe multiple houses?
It’s all in vain. I know plenty of people that own big homes that have no money. I also know of people with big fat bank and investment accounts, that live in old shacks. Success must be measured on your own terms. Good heatth, good friends, enjoying nature…that might do it for many.

let me give u one example: You have to go to a place(success) which u have have never seen but having the address(goal) u can reach there with the help of many things whethr its name board or persons… but sometimes u may get wrong information(struggle in life) by persons or from anything u may assume… so whatever the situation comes u have to find the address of that place(Success).. i hope u understood my words….

You know i think, some people can be happy without success. You take a homeless man for example. You could give him a dinner plate, a magazine and maybe a pack of cigarettes and he would be satisfied with that. Where as, a rich person needs money all the time to make them happy.
Personally, i relate more to the homeless man than the rich person. (I’m not homeless)
Success is defined by what you make it. For some, success means 5 cars in the driveway, mink coats hanging in the closet, white walls and furniture, and chandeliers dangling from out the ceiling.
But, to that homeless man, a pack of cigarettes, that magazine and a hot plate is success to him and also a sense of satisfaction and happiness.

Success or failure is the result of the efforts one puts to achieve/gain what he/she likes. Everyone has his/her own likings based on one’s own inherent nature and the external circumstances sometimes, i.e. the liking may be original or induced. Whatever it might be, when one gets the desired result he/she gets satisfaction. Satisfaction is a state of mind that gives pleasure and peace. That’s why everyone starves for success. Not only this, there are people who makes mokery of others making failure a point, e.g. people criticise/tease a student who has failed in 12th (say) or in some competitive exam. This is an unavoidable evil from the people nearby. Such a situation creates tension in the person who has failed, some times lead the person to an unexpected reaction, likebuilding up inferiority complex, or exhibiting arogancy or heading towards suicide, etc. No one likes such a situation and the tension due to that. Everyone loves peace. Hence, to be successful is a natural wish of everyone.

most of the people do not know what is the exact mean of success, according to me success is a goal ,, and every person come with a specific reason , mission n goal,, and goal gives direction to person. human has a brain who set the target n direction of their life. mind neveg get peace without achieve tagert (target cud be anythng , its nt imp allways big. ie a person target is to see happy his family). so finally success is peace. and everybody require peace like a breath.
